Your spine surgery journey starts weeks before the surgery
To support our spine surgery patients, we have developed a comprehensive education program known as Spine Camp. Our program provides information about every phase of the spine surgery journey, from the first appointment through recovery and rehabilitation. Topics include how to prepare in the weeks and days before surgery, what will happen at the hospital, how to manage pain, discharge options, education for a safe recovery, and much more.
You are the most important member of your spine surgery team, and the Spine Camp was created to assist you in this role.
The Spine Camp video series and the Spine Surgery Patient Guide are important tools to use throughout your spine surgery journey.
Our Virtual Spine Camp is a three-part series:
- Preparing for Surgery
- Hospital Stay Through Discharge
- Discharge and Recovery
Spine Camp – Part 1: Preparing for Surgery
In part one you will learn about the important role you play in your spine surgery journey. Preparation begins weeks in advance, and you will learn what needs to be done during that time in order to be as prepared as possible. You will see how important pre-surgery preparation is to your post-surgery recovery. This video includes information you will need up to the day of your surgery.
Spine Camp – Part 2: Hospital Stay Through Discharge
Part two contains information about your hospital stay from the day of your surgery until you are discharged to go home. Learn about the check-in process, getting prepped for surgery, what happens after surgery, pain management, physical therapy and home discharge.
Spine Camp – Part 3: Discharge and Recovery
The post-surgical recovery phase is covered in part three. Learn about wound care and infection prevention, as well as additional information to help you have a safe and successful recovery.
