Interviews at Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System
Reporters must be accompanied by a member of Spartanburg Regional’s media relations team for any interview in the healthcare system. This includes interviews that may have been arranged through patient families.
The media relations member must accompany all reporters for video, photographs or interviews. Patients cannot be photographed without consent and proper documentation. This includes Spartanburg Medical Center campuses, Cherokee Medical Center, Pelham Medical Center, Spartanburg Hospital for Restorative Care, Gibbs Cancer & Research Institute facilities, Medical Group of the Carolinas, Union Medical Center, Hospice Home, Ellen Sagar Nursing Center, Woodruff Manor and all outside entities.
Patient families do not have the authority to invite reporters to the hospital or to a clinic appointment. If you have been invited by a patient family to the hospital or a clinic appointment, contact the media relations team as soon as possible to verify that someone is available to accompany you.
Condition Reports
Only an authorized spokesperson is permitted to release the following information, which is consistent with the patient confidentiality policy of Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System:
GOOD: Vital signs are stable and within normal limits. The patient is conscious and comfortable. Indicators are favorable.
FAIR: Vital signs are stable and within normal limits. The patient is conscious, but may be uncomfortable. Indicators are favorable.
SERIOUS: Vital signs may be unstable and not within normal limits. The patient is acutely ill. Indicators are questionable.
CRITICAL: Vital signs are unstable and not within normal limits. The patient may be unconscious. Indicators are unfavorable.
