Reference Range

<5.7%

Per the American Diabetes Association (ADA), Prediabetes = 5.7% - 6.4% and Diabetes = 6.5% or higher.  These reference ranges apply to diabetes screening in the general population.  For know diabetic patients, the ADA recommends an A1C of <7%, but more or less stringent glycemic goals may be appropriate for individual patients.
