URINE:  24 hour urine container 
BLOOD COLLECTION:  (Blood may be collected at anytime during the 24 hour urine collection period.): 
3.5 ml Green - Lithium heparin plasma separator 
4.0 ml Gold-top serum separator

Collection Instructions

URINE COLLECTION: 
•  Collect all urine voided for 24 hours and place in the 24 hour urine container. 
•  No preservative needed. 
•  The collection container is to be kept in the refrigerator or on ice during the timed period. 
•  Note the number of hours of urine collection on the aliquot.

URINE:    Max: 5 ml preferred 
              Min:  1 ml 
BLOOD:  2 ml plasma or serum 
             Min: 0.5 ml

Specimen Processing Instructions

URINE: 
Refrigerate, Note the number of hours of urine collection on the aliquot.


BLOOD:

Plasma:  Centrifuge at 3380 rpm’s (±100) for a minimum of 10 minutes

Serum:  Allow to clot.  Centrifuge at 3380 rpm’s (±100) for a minimum of 10 minutes

Centrifuge within 2 hours of collection.

·         Serum (plasma) = 0.47 – 1.35 mg/dl

·         Urine Creatinine/24 hr = 696 – 1566 mg/24 hr

·         Creatine Clearance     males = 78-121 ml/min

                                              females = 70-109 ml/min
