Specimen Processing Instructions   

Plasma:  Centrifuge at 3380 rpm’s (±100) for a minimum of 10 minutes

Serum:  Allow to clot.  Centrifuge at 3380 rpm’s (±100) for a minimum of 10 minutes

Centrifuge within 2 hours of collection.

Transport Requirements     

Refrigerated

Specimen Stability     

Room temperature: 8 hours  

Refrigerated: 5 days 

Rejection Criteria       

If not centrifuged within 2 hours of collection. 

Gross Hemolysis

Reference Range         

Serum or Plasma 0.47 - 1.35 mg/dL

eGFR interpretation :  30-59 = Moderate decrease in eGFR (Glomerular Filtration Rate)

15-29 = Severe decrease in eGFR

<15 = Kidney Failure

Modified Cockcroft-Gault CrCl calculation:  No reference range or interpretation
