Collection Instructions

 

•  If 24 hour collection collect all urine voided for 24 hours and place in the 24 hour urine container. 
•  The collection container is to be kept in the refrigerator or on ice during the timed period. 
•  Note the total number of hours and volume of urine collection on the aliquot for 24 hour urine sample.

Specimen Processing Instructions

 

  • Refrigerate
  • Note the number of hours of urine collection on the aliquot if 24 hour collection.
  • Give aliquot to Core Lab so a tech can acidify with 2-3 drops of 6N HCL for the urine calcium.
