• When is Union Medical Center opening at its new location?

  The new Union Medical Center will open on Tuesday, Feb. 11.

• Where is the new hospital located?

  The new Union Medical Center is located at 1201 Furman L. Fendley Highway; Union, SC 29379 across from Union Industrial Park.

• How can I find my provider or practice within the new location?

  Signage will be located throughout the campus to give patients directions on where to find their providers or practices.

• Are Medical Group of the Carolinas physician practices moving into the new Union Medical Center?

  • Yes, the Medical Group of the Carolinas physician practices will relocate to the new Union Medical Center campus at 1201 Furman L. Fendley Highway in Union.
  • The following practices will be relocating:
    • UMC – Center for Obstetrics & Gynecology
    • UMC – Center for Pediatrics
    • UMC – Center for Family Medicine
    • SMC Center for Hematology Oncology - Union
    • Gibbs Infusion Center – Union
    • Bearden-Josey Center for Breast Health – Union

• When will these practices close and reopen in their new location?

  The practices and services below will start seeing patients at the new Union Medical Center campus on Wednesday, Feb. 12. All phone numbers will remain the same.

  They will operate on a limited schedule Monday and Tuesday, Feb. 10-11. Please see below for their schedules.

• Where are the practices located at the new Union Medical Center?

  All practices will be located on the second floor of the hospital. There will be signage in the new hospital directing you where to go.

• Besides the address, is anything changing with my doctor’s office?

  Nothing is changing. The phone numbers will remain the same for all practices.

• When will the community and patients start using the new Union Medical Center Emergency Room?

  • The emergency room at the new Union Medical Center will open at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 11.
  • We are working with local EMS providers to ensure they quickly and safely transport patients to the nearest emergency room once the existing hospital closes.

• What if I have a medical issue and I am not sure where to go?

  • If you think you are having a heart attack, stroke or medical emergency, you should always call 9-1-1.

• Can the new Union Medical Center Emergency Room take care of the same medical issues as the existing Union Medical Center Emergency Room?

  Yes.

• How can I contact an emergency room patient if I am a relative asking about their condition?

  For patient information, call 864-301-2684.

• How will patients be transferred from the existing Union Medical Center to the new hospital?

  Union Medical Center has prepared a plan for the safe transition of our patients between the facilities.

• Will any services at the existing Union Medical Center be available for patients once the hospital closes on Tuesday, Feb. 11?

  No, the hospital and the building will be closed to the public. Signage will be placed at entrances to reflect this and redirect people to the new Union Medical Center location.

• Is there a public walking trail?

  A quarter-mile, paved, public walking trail on campus is scheduled to be completed by mid-February.

• Where is the healing garden located?

  The healing garden is a gift from music legend Dolly Parton and is located near the main entrance. With benches, plants and flowers, and a beautiful fountain, the garden is designed to be a therapeutic space for the community, patients and visitors.

• Are there any special events taking place before the hospital opening?

  Guided community tours will be held for the public from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 4. This is an opportunity for the community to meet department leaders, find your provider's office and learn about your new hospital.
