SRHS Foundation Board welcomes new members

The Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System Foundation recently welcomed a number of new members to its Board of Trustees.

These recent additions will use their passion for excellent healthcare and influence in the community to help significantly impact the SRHS Foundation and Spartanburg community, officials said. The Foundation Board is divided into four groups. In addition to the 18-member board, the Foundation is supported by Cancer, Heart, and Hospice divisions which seek to the support the operations within each of those clinical areas. The board serves as a governing body of the Foundation, and members each operate on a four-year rotation.

Members are chosen for their passion towards healthcare, influence in the community, and availability of time and energy to work with the Foundation, and serve as ambassadors to the community, providing information to the hospital about the community’s needs and concerns, said Dr. Sheila Breitweiser, Vice President and Executive Director of the SRHS Foundation.

“All members of the Board of Trustees, the Heart, Cancer, and Hospice Boards help to support capital projects and have the ability to significantly impact the community and hospital programs,” said Dr. Sheila Breitweiser, SRHS Vice President and Foundation Executive Director.

Members also donate their own funds and time to create the strong leadership the hospital needs to
succeed. Votes are taken amongst board members to determine how Foundation funds would best be used in the community.

“Our community is blessed with a great number of giving people,” said Board president Normal Pulliam. “We are even more privileged in this region we serve to have talented individuals who not only give of their resources but also give of themselves and their time.”

Spartanburg Regional is currently in the top division of healthcare and technology across the nation and we want to continue to keep that status, Breitweiser said.

“Having diverse, influential board members who can impact our hospital and our community is an important step towards that goal,” she said.
